When you walk through our doors…

you immediately feel welcomed, relaxed and inspired. The Ivy is an upscale recreation club for the creative arts, exclusively for teens. Our warm and welcoming atmosphere allows teens to relax and have fun, connect with their passions, and laugh a lot while having great conversations with friends.

Our members are comfortable here because they know that we value and believe in them. It’s a place that feels like home, and that’s exactly what we wanted!

We focus on the things that are required to live a successful and happy life. We combine skill development, life balance, self-leadership and coaching tools to help teens feel confident about themselves and their futures.

With everything that teens have going on in their lives, they need a place to relax, have fun,  interact with their peers and build social confidence.  A place that inspires them and helps them develop their creativity and passions. At the Ivy, that’s what we do best!

The Ivy is a wonderful place where teens can meet other teens that share their interests and cultivate meaningful friendships.

Our Story

As a  mother to two creative teenagers, a former college professor, and a professional life coach, I wanted a way for my kids to do something that would allow them to  have fun with their friends the way I did when I was young. I also wanted them to do something productive that they also really enjoyed.

At Club Educate we like to say that we are bringing back the art of conversation. Here teens can gain more social confidence as we provide the perfect solution to boredom, and the trepidation that comes from being in new situations. Teens join clubs based on their interests so they know they have things in common with the other members. Simple and effective.

Our atmosphere is a little bit steam punk and a little bit vintage. It’s the perfect place for kids to be creative, develop their skills and to relax and have fun with friends. My daughter loves writing, art and drama. My son loves game development, planning and creating.

With the knowledge I have as a certified life coach, my love of working with teens, and my belief that everyone should spend more time focusing on their passions, I created Club Educate. It’s a place for kids to connect based on similar interests and to work on things they love in a supportive, fun atmosphere! It’s a great place to relax, learn, and be inspired!

Our Coaches

Hello! I’m Candice Ricketts, a former college professor, certified life coach, wife, and mom to two teenagers. As a coach, I work with teens and young adults to help them create life balance, be who they want to be, and figure out what they want to do with their lives. The most important thing I do, though, is help them feel more confident in themselves, their futures, and life in general.

Club Educate is a place where teens can come to connect with their passions and other teens that share their interests. It’s a place for them to get inspired, build confidence, relax and have fun with new friends in a safe, non-judgmental, non-competitive atmosphere. Everyone is welcome at Club Educate.

In addition to our clubs, I offer coaching for teens, young adults, and parents/families. Please check out my Facebook page The Confidence Workshop to see some reviews from clients I’ve helped in the past. You may access the Facebook page by clicking on the page by scrolling all the way down.

We look forward to having your teen as our newest member!

Dr. Veletsos is a CIO in the healthcare industry, a college professor, and an avid Liverpool Football Club supporter. Alex has a master’s degree in finance, an MBA, and doctoral degree in leadership. He will be hosting the Investors Club, as well as other fun clubs on Saturdays that will allow teens to build skills necessary for future endeavors.

Danielle Lanza is a former model and an amazing artist who is pursuing a degree in graphic design at Oakland University. She is excited to share her talents in drawing, painting, and crafting with members of Club Educate. As an art coach Danielle will work with students to challenge them and to help them develop their skills.

Felicia Krol is a writer, beekeeper, and nature enthusiast. She holds a bachelor’s degree in creative writing from Oakland University, and a master’s degree in fiction from Pacific University in Oregon. When she’s not writing, she’s often reading, exploring or foraging outdoors, playing music, or staring at the moon. She is so excited to share her love of words and literature with other young writers, and to bask in an environment rich with inspiration, encouragement, and joy.

Emiliee Patrishkopf is a professional photographer, wife, and mother to two amazing children that she educates at home. We are so happy to have Emilee coach our teens in Photography Club.

Emilee always has interesting ideas for projects and is excited to help them grow their photography skills.

Clubs, Workshops, Etc!

Relax

Teens need one-on-one time with others their age who share their interests. This allows them to relax, relate, and grow their social skills and confidence. Our passion-based clubs allow teens to support and learn from each other while sharing their passion with kids just like them. This interaction helps them develop communication/leadership skills, confidence, and friendships that will last forever.

Our Board Room is actually a place for kids to connect with each other by playing old-fashioned board games together. We also have a video gaming club so teens can actually connect with other gamers in real life!

Fun, or networking, clubs meet at the same time and day on a continuing basis so that members can form strong relationships with other members and really focus on their interests.

Create

Educational Clubs are similar to Fun Clubs in that members share the same interests and learn from each other. The difference here is that the members interact with a coach that challenges them and helps them grow through the coaching process. The coach will also sometimes guide the interaction in the group while supporting individual members. We have all sorts of coached clubs, including writing clubs, art clubs, travelers clubs, and more. Clubs meet in various themed rooms including the Manhattan Lounge and the Paris Lounge. Our lounges are cozy and intimate so that members can relax and open up to others.

Educational clubs meet at the same time and day on a continuing basis so that members can form strong relationships with each other and really focus on their interests.

Workshops

Workshops are shorter in duration and might last anywhere from one hour to several hours spread out over a couple of weeks. Workshops focus on skill development and are taught by the coaches at Club Educate.

Please sign up for our emails so you don’t miss a workshop that might be perfect for your teen.

 Events

Socials are opportunities for teens to spend time socializing with each other in a relaxed environment. Teens are free to mingle, play boardgames, video games, do art, and create their own clubs.

We will be also be offering special events on Fridays (and other times) to members only. Members are able to bring their friends to these events. Tickets are required and can be purchased at the front desk.

From time to time, events will be offered to the public also.

Homeschool Socials

During the school year we offer Homeschool Socials. Homeschool Social hours are Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday from 1 – 4pm. Drop in any day and time for just $40 per teen, per month. Well-behaved children 10 and older are welcome.

Thursdays

5 – 7pm Coaching for Success
Our thoughts, beliefs, values, and much more can determine the life we live. Fortunately, by understanding and changing some of these, we can create the life we want. In these coaching sessions we will discuss all of this so that your teen can feel empowered to live the life they dream of and, most importantly, to gain confidence and get excited about the future.

In these group coaching session we will explore habits and how they shape our lives. What we think, as well as what we do, can become habitual, and those habits can either make or break us. We will focus on setting goals, breaking them down into actionable steps, and determining the habits your teen will need to create to successfully reach their goals.

More About The Pathfinder Program

Undecided Career Path?

There is so much your teen needs to know, and do, in order to create a happy and successful life. Although academics are important, good grades and an excellent education don’t guarantee that your teen will be successful and/or happy.  Relationships, getting what you want, confidence, and standing up for yourself are all important capabilities that many well-educated adults don’t even possess.

A good education doesn’t guarantee success, either. Fears, lack of soft skills (such as collaboration, communication, and critical thinking), and a lack of self-awareness can doom any success you and your child anticipate.

In this program your teen will learn the things necessary to create the life they desire. Your teen will work with a certified life coach to learn the following:

Self-awareness
How to set goals
How to manage their time
How to create the habits necessary to get what they want
Life balance
How to deal with fear
Confidence
The importance of creating a vision

In The Ivy Pathfinder Program, your teen will work with a certified professional life coach in a group setting. These sessions are very casual and full of “aha!” moments for your teen. Teens must agree to keep all conversations within the group confidential. Please discuss the importance of this with your teen.

The Pathfinder Program is 8 weeks long, however, it’s recommended that teens continue with Goals and Habits Coaching and Coached to Success group coaching sessions indefinitely as these will help your teen build the knowledge and confidence they need to succeed.

In Coaching for Success we focus on blocks, beliefs that need to be changed (limiting beliefs), fears, and anything else that will stand in the way of your teen having the life they want and deserve.

In the Habits and Goals group coaching session we will learn how to set real goals and create the habits your teen will need to get there.

Teens will be gently nudged out of their comfort zones (which is important to build confidence), supported as they take baby steps, and held accountable for goals they’ve agreed to.

Teens will not be asked to do anything they don’t agree to, as coaching is about their agenda. My job as a coach is to discuss, create self-awareness of, and address fears, and to support them as they grow and build self-confidence.

The Pathfinder Program Includes the Following Tools
Values Assessment
Strengths Finder 2.0
Self-awareness Exercise
Talents and Interests Inventory
Ideal Life/Image
Vision Board

The program is $125/month plus a one-time fee of $50 paid at registration. This option includes Friday Nights. As a member you’ll also receive 1/2 off workshops and additional clubs. Please ask for the discount code.

The Pathfinder Program runs every two months beginning in June and will run again beginning in October. Don’t miss out as space is limited.

My passion is helping people realize their goals by identifying blocks or fears that stop them from getting what they really want, and by helping people set and reach those goals.

More About Coaching

Coaches help people get clarity and explore what’s stopping them from getting what they want. Sometimes it even helps them determine what they really want, if they aren’t sure.

Coaches help people get what they want by challenging them, supporting them, and holding them accountable. Coaches are motivators, support systems, and cheerleaders.

Coaches don’t have the answers. The client does. Our tools and expertise, however, enable the client to get what they want through powerful questioning, setting goals, and by being supported along the way.

Teams, athletes, actors, executives, small business owners, and politicians all have coaches for a reason. They want to be the best they can be. They want to be at their peak level of performance when it really counts!

Coaching is powerful! Coaching is life changing! Coaching works!

Testimonials

Thank you so much for helping my daughter when she was having such a difficult time in a new school. Ana came home crying unconsolably every day. It broke my heart to see her that way. She was not accepted by the other kids in her new class. They made fun of her and were very rude to her. She felt lonely and scared. It was hard for her to go to school every day and she wanted to go to another school which was really impossible.

I’m not sure what you talked about with her but after one session with you she totally changed her mind. She made the decision to stay where she was! Now she is so confident and self aware. She is happy and seems to feel very powerful! I can hear her singing in her room the way she used to. I love her new found confidence, strength and courage and I will be forever grateful to you!

Aneta, Macedonia

I had started studying for a degree in teaching because that’s what most of my friends and family suggested I do. I wasn’t really sure that that was what I wanted but I couldn’t really make a decision about what to major in so I went along with that. After you coached me I started to become clearer on what I was interested in and wanted to do. Now I’m enrolled in Human Resource Management and I really love it! Thank you for giving me the courage to do what I want and for helping me find out what it is I wanted!

Mary, 19, Michigan

When I first started my sessions with you, I was very overwhelmed in so many areas of my life that I didn’t know where to start. I was very anxious and was dealing with so many negative things; I felt stuck. You helped me put everything into perspective and decide which things to take care of first. Our weekly sessions made me accountable to tackle the problems once and for all. I started moving forward andI started reaching my objectives faster than going at it alone. It was extremely helpful to have all your encouragement and support. I truly appreciate it and felt listened to and understood. In addition, through talking to you, I was able to identify and accept a solution that was right in front of me all along. I feel so much relief and I’m excited for the future once again. Thank you Candice!

Christina, Florida

I was terrified of speaking in public but had to do so in order to pass all my classes. I was given a topic that wasn’t at all interesting to me and had no idea how to handle it. After talking with you and learning how to research, present and make my presentation fun and interesting I was actually excited to give my presentation. I never thought that I couldn’t be afraid but I was really excited and got an A!

Jessica, Michigan

In my country I was a very confident and outstanding student. When I started university in America I felt like I was falling behind, not quite good enough and I felt like I wasn’t as good as the other students. It was very confusing to me because I always had very high standards for myself and had always done well in school. Your coaching made me realize what was going on and that I was being really hard on myself. You made me realize all that I had accomplished and what I should be very proud about. I now know that this is just temporary and that I will soon be back to my high standards once again.
